Job summary

Sodexo at Royal Stoke Hospital is hiring a Food Service Assistant. You will prepare and serve meals, maintain kitchen and dining areas, and deliver excellent customer service in a busy healthcare setting.

The role involves a varied rota including day/evening shifts, with 7.5 hours per week across 1 day out of 7. A uniform is provided, and Sodexo Benefits support staff wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food preparation, catering, hospitality, or retail environments.
• Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a busy, fast-paced setting.
• Strong communication, organisational, and time management skills with good literacy and numeracy.
• A positive, self-motivated team player who works well under pressure and is eager to learn.
• Level 2 Food Safety qualification desirable, with a commitment to maintaining high food hygiene and safety standards

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food and retail products in line with company standards, ensuring quality and consistency at all times.
• Deliver excellent customer service, promoting products and supporting sales growth through positive guest interactions.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, allergen awareness, stock rotation, and storage procedures to minimise waste and ensure compliance.
• Operate tills accurately, process transactions, and ensure all revenue is correctly recorded and accounted for.
• Support a safe, clean, and professional working environment by adhering to hygiene standards, training requirements, and company policies.
