About Us

Nestlé Halifax, located in West Yorkshire, is home to some of the UK's most recognised confectionery brands, including Quality Street and After Eight. The site combines controlled process manufacturing with advanced automated filling and packing technology to produce high-quality products safely, efficiently and at scale, while continuously improving performance and capability across its operations.

At Nestlé Halifax, our Quality team helps turn trusted standards into safe, compliant products for consumers. Working across the factory, the team supports food safety, hygiene, quality assurance and continuous improvement so products are made right first time and quality losses are reduced.

Your Impact

You will shape how food safety is understood, applied and continually improved across the Halifax factory. By connecting robust systems, practical verification and engaging capability building, you will help prevent incidents, reduce quality losses and maintain confidence in every product made on site.

  • Food safety strategy: Coordinate the site food safety plan, with particular focus on pathogen management, foreign-body prevention, hygiene zoning, cleaning controls and allergen management.
  • Standards and compliance: Maintain effective food safety and quality systems, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point plans, and support compliance with FSSC 22000 and other applicable requirements.
  • Verification and audit readiness: Coordinate validation, monitoring and audit activity so controls remain effective, findings are addressed promptly and the factory is ready for internal and external review.
  • Incident prevention and response: Support investigations into microbiological, food safety and consumer complaint issues, helping teams identify root causes, complete corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
  • Capability and engagement: Build food safety and hygiene understanding through training, coaching, induction activity and clear communications for employees and contractors.
  • Continuous improvement: Use structured problem-solving and performance measures to reduce complaints, defects and non-conformities while improving first-time-right performance and factory standards.
Your Ingredients for Success

You will bring practical understanding of food safety and quality assurance in a manufacturing environment, alongside the ability to coordinate systems, influence others and turn findings into sustainable improvements.

Essential
  • Food safety and quality: Experience of implementing or coordinating food safety or quality assurance programmes within a manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP and standards: Level 4 HACCP is essential. Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point principles, food safety management systems and relevant legal or certification requirements.
  • Auditing and verification: Ability to plan or support audits, validation and verification activity, and follow findings through to effective closure.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to investigate incidents or non-conformities, identify root causes and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Communication and influence: Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors and external partners, including escalating issues appropriately and constructively challenging where needed.
  • Capability building: Ability to train, coach and engage others so food safety and hygiene standards are understood and consistently applied.
Desirable
  • Education: A degree or equivalent qualification in food science, microbiology, quality, science or a related discipline.
  • Continuous improvement: Exposure to continuous improvement methods and structured problem-solving tools within manufacturing.
  • Site systems: Knowledge of quality management data, factory manufacturing processes, materials and product standards.
  • Contractor coordination: Experience of working with specialist service providers such as pest control, cleaning, workwear or laundry contractors.
  • Software Experience: Prior experience of Veeva QMS, SAP and proficiency with Microsoft Office would be desirable.

If you are excited by this opportunity but do not meet every desirable criterion, we would still encourage you to apply and tell us about the relevant capability and potential you could bring.
