Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a Mid-Level Project Engineer to join the Cardiff team, focusing on food and beverage manufacturing projects. You will coordinate site-based engineering and facility improvements, ensuring safe, on-schedule delivery with contractors and stakeholders.

Based on-site in Cardiff with hybrid flexibility (2-3 days on site), you will support commissioning, handover, and operational readiness, working closely with manufacturing teams to optimize processes.

Qualifications

• Strong project engineering or project management experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and workstreams simultaneously.
• Understanding of process industries and facility-based engineering projects.
• Experience supporting commissioning and implementation activities.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• On-site work with daily engagement with operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate delivery of site-based engineering and facility projects.
• Oversee implementation and commissioning of new process and piping systems.
• Manage day-to-day communication between contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor project schedules, risks, issues, and actions for delivery.
• Support ramp-up and ramp-down activities throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Ensure activities meet site standards and safety procedures.
• Facilitate project meetings and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
• Support go-live activities and ensure a smooth transition into operations.
• Review contractor performance and ensure deliverables align with requirements.
