Job summary

AG Barr Group in Cumbernauld is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead site engineering strategy, drive high-speed manufacturing performance, and champion continuous improvement across production operations.

You will report to the Site Director, partner with Production to maximise line efficiencies, optimise maintenance, and deliver capital projects, while building an inclusive, high-performing engineering team in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive engineering management experience in a fast-paced FMCG or Food & Beverage setting.
• Deep technical knowledge of high-speed packaging equipment and QSE standards in manufacturing.
• Proven track record delivering PPM systems, asset reliability strategies and multi‑million-pound capital projects.
• Strong leadership, coaching and influencing capabilities with a culture-change track record.
• NEBOSH qualification and contractor management expertise.

Responsibilities

• Strategic & Financial Leadership: Assist the Site Director in budgeting and delivering engineering targets.
• Maintenance & Asset Reliability: Improve uptime and asset performance via effective PPMs and planning.
• Capital Project Delivery: Own capex proposals, procurement, installation and commissioning.
• Collaborative CI Integration: Partner with Production to embed continuous improvement and reduce waste.
• Safety, Quality & Compliance: Champion QSE and ensure compliance with standards across site operations and contractors.
• Site Services & Utilities: Oversee site services, utilities, and contractor/OEM relationships with proper reviews.
