Job summary

The Best Connection are recruiting an experienced FLT Driver for their Oldbury warehouse. You will operate both Counterbalance and 4-Way M3 reach trucks to move long-length steel products, load/unload, and prepare customer orders.

Must hold valid Counterbalance and M3 licences, with prior warehouse experience and good IT skills. Overtime is available; potential for long-term employment with a reputable steel supplier.

FLT Driver (4-Way Multi-Directional Reach (M3) & Counterbalance)

Location: Oldbury, West Midlands
Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour
Contract: Temporary to Permanent (initial rolling monthly contract)
Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern

• Initial training period: 6:00am - 2:30pm
• Following training: 1:00pm - 9:00pm

Overtime available.

About the Role

The Best Connection are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading international steel stockholder and distributor, for an experienced FLT Driver to join their warehouse operation in Oldbury.

This role involves handling long-length steel products within a busy warehouse environment using both Counterbalance and 4-Way Multi-Directional Reach trucks.

Please note: Candidates must hold both a valid Counterbalance licence and a valid M3 Multi-Directional Reach Truck licence. Standard Reach Truck licences (R1-R14 categories) will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating Counterbalance and Multi-Directional Reach (M3) trucks safely and efficiently.
• Loading and unloading steel products.
• Moving long-length materials throughout the warehouse.
• Picking and preparing customer orders.
• Carrying out stock checks and stock movements.
• Using warehouse management and stock control systems.
• Completing general warehouse duties as required.
• Adhering to all health and safety procedures.

Essential Requirements

• Valid Counterbalance FLT licence.
• Valid 4-Way Multi-Directional Reach Truck (M3) licence.
• Previous experience operating Multi-Directional FLT equipment.
• Experience working within a busy warehouse environment.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience using stock control systems.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.

Highly Desirable

• Previous experience operating Hubtex trucks.
• Experience handling steel, metal or other long-length products.
• Experience within a steel stockholder, manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience using SAP systems.
• Experience operating overhead cranes.
• Experience using horizontal or metal-cutting saws.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques.
