Job summary

Smart Solutions is seeking an experienced FLT Driver for a busy waste and recycling site in Dartford. You will operate a Counterbalance forklift with a clamp attachment, move waste and recyclable materials, and support loading, unloading, and yard activities.

This is a full-time, in-person role with a 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM shift and an any 5 days out of 7 pattern. Overtime is paid after 50 hours at 1.5x, and candidates must be able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid and in-date forklift licence (Counterbalance).
• Experience operating a Counterbalance FLT with clamp attachment is desirable.
• Good knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate the Counterbalance FLT with clamp attachment on site.
• Move waste and recyclable materials around the yard.
• Load and unload vehicles and stack materials efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, safe working area and report hazards.
• Support general yard operations and teamwork.
• Carry out daily safety checks on the FLT and follow procedures.
• Work outdoors in all weather while meeting site standards.
• Communicate clearly with team members to coordinate tasks.
• Adhere to shift pattern and site rules.

Shift Pattern: Any 5 days out of 7

About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced FLT Driver to join a busy waste and recycling site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) with clamp attachment to move waste and recyclable materials around the site. You will also assist with loading and unloading vehicles, stacking materials and supporting the wider yard operation.

This is a physically active, outdoor role within a busy industrial environment, so candidates must be comfortable working in all weather conditions and maintaining high standards of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Valid and in-date FLT licence
• Previous Counterbalance FLT experience
• Experience using a clamp attachment is highly desirable

• Able to work independently and as part of a team
