Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is sourcing a Counterbalance FLT Driver for a busy recycling and waste management facility. The role is on-site, with ongoing work and a steady day shift from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

We are seeking experienced forklift operators with a valid external Counterbalance FLT licence and a proven track record in fast-paced environments. You will support production lines, manage materials, and maintain strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• Valid external Counterbalance FLT licence (RTITB, ITSSAR, NPORS, or AITT).
• Proven forklift experience in fast-paced environment (recycling, waste management, or heavy industrial settings).
• Adherence to site traffic management plans, PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate Counterbalance FLT to move pallets, skips, cages, and bales of recyclable materials.
• Load and unload incoming waste shipments, curtain-siders, flatbeds, or shipping containers safely.
• Supply inventory to production lines and keep balers/feed hoppers stocked.
• Perform pre-shift FLT safety inspections, log hours, and report faults.
• Maintain yard housekeeping and ensure vehicle traffic lanes are clear.

KPI Recruiting are on the look out for a Counterbalance FLT Driver to join our client's busy recycling and waste management facility.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Material Movement: Safely and efficiently operate a Counterbalance FLT to move pallets, skips, cages, and compressed bales of recyclable materials.
• Loading & Unloading: Load and unload incoming waste shipments, curtain-siders, flatbeds, or shipping containers safely.
• Production Line Support: Keep processing lines, balers, and feed hoppers continuously supplied with inventory to avoid downtime.
• Pre-Shift Checks: Complete daily FLT safety inspections, log hours, and immediately report any mechanical faults or damages.
• Yard Housekeeping: Stack processed materials safely within site height restrictions and ensure vehicle traffic lanes remain completely clear.

What We Are Looking For

• Licence: A valid, accredited external Counterbalance FLT licence (e.g., RTITB, ITSSAR, NPORS, or AITT).
• Experience: Proven experience operating a forklift within a fast-paced environment (recycling, waste management, or heavy industrial settings preferred).
• Safety First Mindset: Strict adherence to site traffic management plans, pedestrian segregation rules, and PPE requirements.
• Reliability: Excellent timekeeping, a hard-working approach, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical Fitness: Comfortable undertaking manual handling and general yard duties alongside forklift operations.
