Job summary

High Cross in Swadlincote is seeking an experienced FLT Counterbalance Driver/Yard Operative on a temp-to-perm basis. You will safely move heavy housebuilding products around the yard, support general site operations, and read metric measurements to ensure accurate handling and dispatch.

Shifts include fixed morning or afternoon hours, totaling 40 hours per week, with progression possible after training. A valid FLT Counterbalance certificate is essential for this role.

Our client, based in Swadlincote, is looking for an experienced FLT Counterbalance Driver / Yard Operative to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis. Working as part of a busy team, you will be responsible for safely moving heavy housebuilding products around the yard and supporting general site operations.

Main Duties FLT Counterbalance Driver

• Operating a counterbalance forklift in the yard
• Moving heavy housebuilding products and materials
• Picking orders and preparing products for dispatch
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required quality standards
• Providing general support around the plant and yard
• Reading measurements using the metric system, including centimetres and millimetres

Requirements FLT Counterbalance Driver

• A valid and accredited FLT Counterbalance certificate is essential
• Previous experience operating a counterbalance forklift
• Ability to work safely when handling heavy products
• Ability to read metric measurements, including cm and mm
• Flexibility to undertake additional training and operate other types of forklift equipment
• Vacancies available on morning and afternoon fixed shifts, offering 40 hours paid per week.
• Morning shifts: 07:00am to 03:45pm Monday to Friday (fixed shift)
• Afternoon shifts: 3:00pm to 11:00pm Monday to Friday (fixed shift)

Pay and Benefits

• Starting rate of £14.37 per hour
• Potential increases to £15.41 and £16.45 per hour for suitable candidates. Pay increases available following successful training and upskilling on additional forklift types
• Overtime paid at:
• 1.25x Monday to Friday
• 1.5x Saturday
• 2x Sunday

This role may involve handling very heavy products, so a good level of physical fitness is required.
