Job summary

Mears Group in Dover is seeking an experienced Floor Layer to install and repair flooring across social housing properties. You will work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team, delivering high-quality results safely and efficiently.

Role involves sheet vinyl, tiling, cap and cove installations, subfloor preparation, and using hand and power tools. This is a full-time, permanent position with 42.5 hours per week and a company van and fuel card.

Qualifications

Experience as a Floor Layer in domestic or commercial settings.
Experience carrying out repairs and void works.
Knowledge of sheet vinyl, tiling, cap and cove floor installations.
Ability to work independently with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Install and renew sheet vinyl flooring with smooth finishes and sealed seams.
Lay ceramic and other tile types including cutting, alignment, grouting, and sealing.
Fit cap and cove wet room floors with waterproof surfaces.
Prepare subfloors by cleaning, repairing and priming for adhesion.
Apply self-levelling compounds and screed for flat bases.
Carry out flooring works in kitchens, bathrooms, communal areas, and void properties.
Measure and cut materials to fit around fixtures and obstacles.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Maintain tools, equipment and vehicle to a high standard.
Log progress using a PDA system.
Communicate professionally with tenants, clients and colleagues.
