Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council's Flood and Water Team is recruiting a Flood Risk Officer to provide specialist advice on surface water drainage and flood risk within the Lead Local Flood Authority and planning processes.

You will work with developers, planning authorities and stakeholders to assess drainage proposals, promote SuDS and help deliver sustainable growth while protecting communities and the environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in flood risk management or drainage design.
• Understanding of hydrology, hydraulics and drainage principles.
• Ability to communicate technical information to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Assess drainage proposals for development schemes.
• Promote sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
• Regulate activities affecting ordinary watercourses and review applications.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure works are compliant and protect water flow.
