Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer to lead technical solutions on development projects. You will support project management, client relationships and junior staff development to sustain growth.

The role requires strong experience in flood risk and drainage, knowledge of regulatory guidance, and proactive communication with stakeholders. Flexible working and career progression opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong experience in flood risk assessment and drainage design.
• Experience using InfoDrainage and/or MicroDrainage.
• Experience preparing planning application reports, including FRA and Drainage Strategy Reports.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of NPPF, CIRIA SuDS Design Manual, Sewer Sector Guidance and Building Regulations.
• Excellent communication skills to advise clients and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage deadlines, budgets, and project resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies.
• Manage detailed drainage design schemes for residential and commercial developments.
• Provide planning advice relating to flood risk, drainage and masterplan layouts.
• Manage projects, resources, budgets and client expectations.
• Assist with fee proposals and support business development opportunities.
• Represent the consultancy at design team meetings, council meetings, public exhibitions and networking events.
• Provide mentoring to less experienced engineers.
