Job summary

You should have 2–3 years’ consultancy experience and a Civil Engineering degree, with AutoCAD and drainage design software exposure. The role offers full-time or part-time options, and a generous benefits package including private healthcare and pension.

Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer

Looking for a Flood Risk and Drainage role where you can build on your first few years of experience and start taking greater responsibility for your own projects?

An established Civil Engineering consultancy is looking for a Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer to join its Bristol team. You will work across residential and commercial development, combining Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies with detailed drainage design.

The Role

You will have direct involvement with clients, local authorities, Architects and Planning Consultants, giving you exposure to the wider development process rather than simply producing calculations and drawings.

Your work will include:

• Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports
• Designing drainage schemes using InfoDrainage and/or MicroDrainage
• Developing SuDS and development drainage solutions
• Producing and reviewing AutoCAD drawings
• Liaising with clients, councils and wider design teams
• Supporting schemes through planning and technical approval

About You

You will ideally have around 2-3 years’ relevant consultancy experience and a Civil Engineering or related degree.

Experience preparing FRAs and Drainage Strategies and designing drainage schemes using InfoDrainage and/or MicroDrainage is essential. You will also need AutoCAD experience and a working knowledge of guidance including NPPF, the CIRIA SuDS Manual and Sewer Sector Guidance.

Experience of flood modelling or S104 drainage design would be useful but is not essential. A full UK driving licence is required.
