Penguin Recruitment Ltd is working with a Bristol-based civil engineering consultancy to appoint a Senior Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer. You'll lead flood risk assessments, drainage design and project delivery on residential and commercial schemes, while liaising with clients and multi-disciplinary teams.

Ready to take greater control of your Flood Risk and Drainage projects, while still remaining close to the technical work?

An established Civil Engineering consultancy is looking for a Senior Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer to join its Bristol team. You will work across residential and commercial development, combining technical delivery with project leadership, client responsibility and planning advice.

The Role

You will prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies, undertake detailed drainage design and manage projects through planning and technical approval.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports
• Designing drainage schemes using InfoDrainage and/or MicroDrainage
• Managing and leading projects
• Liaising directly with clients, councils and multidisciplinary design teams
• Assisting with fee proposals and managing project budgets and resources
• Providing flood risk and drainage advice on planning and masterplan layouts
• Representing the consultancy at design team and council meetings
• Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers

About You

You will ideally have around 5-6 years’ relevant consultancy experience, although your level of responsibility and technical capability are more important than an exact number of years.

You will need strong experience in Flood Risk Assessment, Drainage Strategy and detailed drainage design, together with InfoDrainage and/or MicroDrainage and AutoCAD.

A working knowledge of NPPF, the CIRIA SuDS Manual and Sewer Sector Guidance is required. Experience of fluvial or pluvial modelling and S104 drainage design would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is essential.
