Job summary

Interaction Recruitment seeks an experienced Flexographic Printer (level 3) for a Corby site. You will work a 12-hour rotating days/nights shift on a 4 on / 4 off pattern, supporting the Print Manager in daily operations to improve efficiency and production quality while upholding Health & Safety standards.

You will set up and run press machinery, monitor colour quality, coordinate with Production Managers, and lead a team to maximise output and minimise waste in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in blown film extrusion or flexographic printing.
  • Production experience operating high-speed machinery.
  • Excellent technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Set up and run the printing machine.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring operators.

Responsibilities

  • Set and operate print machinery to meet output targets.
  • Adjust colours and print quality with ink technicians support.
  • Load substrates and inks, adjust press settings for tension, speed, colour registration.
  • Inspect output for colour accuracy and quality, adjust as needed.
  • Maintain quality control and perform inspections/tests for defects.
  • Plan shifts and manage the team to maximise efficiency and safety.
  • Reduce scrap and downtime through proactive planning.
  • Train and supervise print operators and assistants.

Job Description: Flexographic Printer (level 3)

Location: Corby

Hours 12 hour rotating days / nights on a 4 on / 4 off rotation

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE

I am looking for an experienced Flexographic Printer to join my client in Corby.

This role is pivotal to the business and you would be working in factory environment supporting the Print Manager in all aspects of the Print Departments day-to-day running including managing personnel and working with the Production Managers and Directors to improve efficiencies, reducing costs, improving product quality, and Health and Safety.

Main Responsibilities
  • Set and operate the print machinery and achieve output targets ensuring production is per the works order requirements.
  • Understand technical requirements specific to print quality and artwork guidance, with particular attention to eye marks and guidelines.
  • Understand and alter colours as required with the support of the Ink technicians ensuring high quality complex visuals.
  • Load substrates and inks, adjusting the press setting for tension, speed, colour registration etc.
  • Inspect printed output for colour accuracy, print clarity and overall quality, adjusting as necessary.
  • Ensure quality control is maintained and carry out technical inspections and tests to check for defects and use experience and technical knowledge of the processes to problem solve throughout the shift.
  • Verify, control and adjust machine settings as required within the guidelines and tolerances of the works order and production plan.
  • Measure, weigh and grade the technical specifications of products to meet customer requirements as per the works order.
  • To run the shift by planning the work and organising the team to maximise efficiency and productivity according to the production plan, always with a mind on safety.
  • Ensure production is maximised and cost effective, by reducing scrap and down time through effective planning ahead, this includes cutting cores, arranging all raw materials for current and following shift.
  • Check shift targets are being met.
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure operators are completing their work to their best ability and support where necessary; with ability to step in as required-this includes following the housekeeping schedule.
  • To be proactive in organising own workload and having a self-motivated attitude towards departmental workload.
  • Support management in the supervision and management of the team and wider factory.
  • To assist Management in investigating CAR and health & safety concerns
  • Work with attention to detail producing work that is accurate.
  • Label, wrap and strap pallets ensuring labelling is clear as per the specified sheet.
  • Keep scrap to a minimum and make every effort to avoid unnecessary scrap.
  • Transfer scrap to designated bailer and empty the bailer when required.
  • Move finished product and place in the designated space.
  • Ensure all production sheets are filled out correctly and accurately.
  • Conduct and sign off quality checks and measure product dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation aligned to works order.
  • Ensure samples are taken and all QC paperwork is filled out correctly.
  • To report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Participate and ensure a smooth handover between shifts.
  • Achieve daily production targets set by management.
  • Ensuring the Print area is tidy and kept in a professional manner following the highest BRCGS standards.
  • Must follow and comply with all company, Health & Safety, HR and factory policies and procedures.
  • Attend any training provided to you whether individually or collectively.
  • To carry out any other reasonable requests.
  • To train the Print Operators and Print Assistants to meet their potential, giving them the skills and experience necessary to run independently and competently.
  • To assist the print operators and trainees.
  • As Responsible Person, oversee the general standards and staff within the factory ensuring Health & Safety and BRCGS rules are being adhered to at all times.
  • To act as a First Aider and Fire Marshall.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the blown film extrusion/ flexographic print or conversion processes.
  • Production experience with the capability of operating high-speed modern machinery.
  • Excellent technical skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Set up and run the machine.
  • Management skills (coaching, mentoring, firm etc).
  • First Aider.
  • Fire Marshall.
