Job summary

Step Teachers is actively recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Plymouth and surrounding areas. This flexible role offers both short-term and long-term placements, with immediate start available for the right candidate.

You will work one-to-one or in small groups, helping pupils access learning, implement plans, and develop social and emotional skills while safeguarding and promoting welfare.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
• Understanding autism, ADHD, and communication needs.
• Ability to build positive, nurturing relationships with pupils.
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities.
• Help implement individual education plans and behaviour strategies.
• Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
• Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and communicate with staff.
• Contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements.
