We're looking for caring and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistants to join a supportive education setting in Plymouth, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available.

You’ll work directly with children and young people who need additional support to access learning, develop confidence and participate successfully in education.

Working alongside teachers and specialist professionals, you'll provide support tailored around individual pupils.

You’ll
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group learning support.
  • Help pupils access lessons and complete activities.
  • Support young people with a range of additional learning needs.
  • Adapt your approach around individual learning styles.
  • Encourage communication and social interaction.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships.
  • Support confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Help pupils manage emotions and challenging situations.
  • Follow agreed individual learning and support strategies.
  • Assist with classroom resources and activities.
  • Observe progress and share relevant information with colleagues.
  • Support pupils throughout the wider school day.

Previous experience within education, SEND, care, youth work, mentoring or another child-focused environment would be valuable.

More importantly, you’ll be someone who is:
  • Patient and empathetic.
  • Positive and encouraging.
  • Reliable and consistent.
  • Able to adapt to different pupils and situations.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team.
  • Calm when situations become challenging.
  • Passionate about helping young people progress.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.

With full-time and part-time positions available, this could suit experienced education professionals as well as people looking to develop their SEND experience.

You’ll benefit from:
  • £14.50 per hour.
  • Full-time and part-time opportunities.
