Job summary

Disability North is seeking 1–2 permanent Personal Assistants to support a disabled solo parent in their early 30s to live life independently and to the fullest.

Role requires personal care, light housekeeping, cooking, shopping, community access and some parenting-related physical tasks. You must be comfortable around a young child and LGBT+ inclusive, with clear English communication.

Qualifications

• Comfortable in an environment with a child and mobility aids.
• Cheerful, friendly, sociable and truthful.
• Reliable, competent, practical and self-motivated.
• Able to learn routines and support daily life.
• Capable communicator with initiative and flexibility.
• Respectful of the employer's home and boundaries.
• Full UK driving licence and use of employer vehicle.
• Awareness of adult autism and chronic pain impacts.
• Supportive of LGBT people and diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Supporting me physically to fulfil my parenting role.
• Supporting access to the community.
• Help with day-to-day activities and household chores.
• Plan menus, shop for food and prepare meals.
• Cook with me or independently when needed for parenting.
• Support personal care (showering).
• Arrange medical appointments and transport where needed.
• Encourage wellbeing for me and my child.
