Job summary

Coalbrook Surgery in Pontyberem is seeking a permanent part-time Practice Manager to run the day-to-day with GP partners and an operational manager. You will handle staffing, HR, compliance, and patient safety while coordinating clinics and student placements.

Experience in primary care management and NHS Wales systems is essential, with EMIS Web proficiency and a collaborative, shared leadership approach. Flexible working is available.

Qualifications

• Proven practice manager experience in a primary care GP surgery setting.
• Strong knowledge of NHS primary care systems and structures.
• Understanding of CQC regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experienced manager within primary care or healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day running of the practice with GP partners and operational manager
• Support strategic and operational management of practice services
• Manage staff matters including recruitment, induction, appraisals and HR processes
• Ensure compliance with NHS Wales, Health Board, contractual, HIW, GDPR and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate rotas to keep staffing safe and efficient
• Support planning of GP and nursing clinics to optimise capacity and patient access
• Maintain standards of patient care and patient safety
• Liaise with external bodies including Health Board, cluster, community services and universities
• Support quality improvement, Enhanced Services, QOF delivery, audits and practice development
• Use EMIS Web and support digital systems and workflows
• Coordinate and oversee medical student placements, including induction, scheduling, supervision and liaison with educational bodies
• Oversee significant event reporting, complaints, safeguarding and incident handling in line with NHS Wales guidance
