Job summary

Disability North is seeking a part-time personal assistant in Blakelaw, Newcastle Upon Tyne to support Archie, a 16-year-old with non-verbal autism and learning disabilities. The role is 8 hours per week during school holidays, with potential weekend flexibility.

You will help Archie access community activities, accompany him on walks, trips to parks and coast, and monitor his needs. Full supervision is required as Archie has no awareness of danger.

Qualifications

• 8 hours per week during school holidays.
• No personal care is required in this role.
• Ability to learn and understand Archie’s cues and indicators.

Responsibilities

• Support Archie to access the community and engage in activities he enjoys.
• Monitor and prompt mealtimes as Archie will not indicate when he is hungry.
• Provide full supervision during outings to ensure safety and well-being.
