Job summary

Workforce Staffing is helping a Stroud-based accountancy practice recruit an Assistant Accountant. The role offers full-time or flexible hours and a permanent contract, with a varied client portfolio and career development opportunities.

You will work with experienced colleagues, handling management accounts, VAT, year-end tasks, and client communications while progressing towards AAT/ACCA qualifications.

Qualifications

• At least three years' hands-on accounting experience.
• Practice/accountancy experience is advantageous.
• AAT or ACCA studies, part-qualified status or strong QBE experience.
• Good working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience with Sage, Xero and/or QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Produce management reports and supporting financial information.
• Prepare VAT returns, bank reconciliations and routine accounting schedules.
• Assist with year-end accounts preparation, including working papers and lead schedules.
• Support statutory accounts and tax returns using TaxCalc.
• Work with accounting software including Sage, Xero and QuickBooks.
• Prepare accounts and tax returns for individuals, partnerships and limited companies as appropriate.
• Develop client relationships via tele, email and face-to-face communication.
• Get involved in ad hoc projects including cash flow forecasting and business consultancy.
