Job summary

Workforce Staffing and our client in Stroud are seeking an Assistant Accountant who is part-qualified or QBE to join a forward-thinking practice. The role offers flexible hours (full-time or part-time) and genuine career development opportunities.

You will work with a varied client portfolio, building relationships while developing technical accounting skills across management accounts, VAT, year-end work and client reporting.

Qualifications

• At least three years' hands-on accounting experience.
• Practice/accountancy experience preferred.
• AAT or ACCA studies, part-qualified status or strong QBE experience.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and year-end processes.
• Experience with Sage, Xero and/or QuickBooks.
• Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Producing management reports and supporting financial information.
• Preparing VAT returns, bank reconciliations and routine accounting schedules.
• Assisting with year-end accounts preparation, including working papers and lead schedules.
• Supporting statutory accounts and tax return preparation using TaxCalc.
• Working with accounting software including Sage, Xero and QuickBooks.
• Depending on experience, preparing accounts and tax returns for individuals, partnerships and limited companies.
• Developing strong client relationships through regular telephone, email and face-to-face communication.
• Getting involved in additional projects, including cash flow forecasting, business consultancy and other ad hoc client assignments.
