Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join us as flexible (temporary) postal delivery drivers. You’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, delivering letters and parcels come rain or shine while out on your round.

Shifts vary and opportunities exist to become permanent. Full UK driving licence required, ability to walk long distances, and readiness to pass a driving assessment on start. Pay scales are listed per shift and may change.

Qualifications

• Driving Licence: Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points – you’ll be driving a Royal Mail van as part of your round.
• Physical Fitness: Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, get in and out of your van regularly, and carry a mailbag weighing up to 16kg.
• Flexibility: Shifts can vary, so we need team players who can adapt at short notice.

Responsibilities

• As a Post Person with Driving, you’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, ensuring letters and parcels are delivered come rain or shine.
• You’ll drive around your delivery area, completing parts of your route on foot, providing exceptional service and ensuring every item reaches its destination safely.
• You’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.
• This role is a vital service at the heart of every neighbourhood; flexible work is required.
