Job summary

The Presbyterian Church in Ireland (PCI) invites applications for a part-time Support Worker at Lawnfield House, Newcastle. You will provide person-centred support to two tenants in a home-like setting, within a Christain-faith based environment.

Role includes personal care, domestic tasks, advocacy, and spiritual support. Flexible hours including weekends; training and development opportunities available.

Qualifications

• One year’s experience in a caring environment with adult clients
• Willing to respect Christian ethos of PCI
• Knowledge of learning disability, physical disability, and older people care
• Committed to working with the client group
• Ability to provide spiritual support as required
• Flexible working including weekends/bank holidays

Responsibilities

• Support tenants in daily living and participation in community activities
• Assist tenants in achieving Personal Centred Plans outcomes
• Provide personal care including bathing, washing, feeding and medication administration
• Assist with domestic tasks: cooking, cleaning, gardening, laundry
• Help tenants with budgeting and menu planning
• Support tenants in leisure activities and building relationships
• Act as key worker according to tenant needs
• Provide spiritual support and enable participation in congregational life
• Advocate for tenants and promote self-advocacy
• Take lead staff duties when senior staff are absent
