Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking an experienced HLTA to support primary classrooms near Fowlmere and surrounding areas. You can choose day-to-day cover or secure long-term placements, delivering pre-planned lessons and supporting teachers to raise pupil attainment across EYFS to KS2.

Ideal candidates have HLTA status or equivalent, strong classroom management, and a good grasp of the Primary National Curriculum, with an Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• HLTA status (or equivalent Level 4 qualification) or a foundation degree in education.
• Proven experience independently leading whole classes within a primary school setting (EYFS, KS1, KS2).
• Excellent knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and primary age-group development.
• Outstanding communication skills, a proactive attitude, and confident classroom management.
• A valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to complete one).

Responsibilities

• Classroom cover: take whole-class responsibility to cover planned teacher absences, scheduled PPA time, or short-term sickness, delivering pre-planned lessons across primary subjects.
• Targeted interventions: plan, prepare, and deliver small-group or 1:1 interventions in literacy, numeracy, and phonics to boost pupil progress.
• Collaboration: work with class teachers to assess pupil progress, provide feedback, and adapt resources for diverse needs.
• Learning environment: foster a positive, inclusive classroom with strong behaviour management to keep pupils motivated.
