Job summary

Randstad Education is recruiting a Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils in Royston and surrounding areas. You will lead whole classes, deliver pre-planned lessons, and run targeted interventions while working with skilled teachers across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.

The role offers day-to-day cover or longer fixed-term opportunities, providing flexibility to fit around your commitments and study.

Qualifications

• HLTA status (or Level 4 qualification) or a recognised foundation degree in education.
• Proven experience independently leading whole classes in a primary setting (EYFS/KS1/KS2).
• Excellent knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and primary age development.
• Outstanding communication, proactive attitude and strong classroom management.
• Enhanced DBS check on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Take whole-class responsibility to cover planned teacher absences and deliver pre-planned lessons.
• Plan, deliver small-group or 1:1 interventions in literacy, numeracy, and phonics.
• Collaborate with class teachers to review pupil progress and adapt learning resources.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment with effective behaviour management.
