Job summary

Kier Group plc. is recruiting a Highways Maintenance Operative in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role focuses on maintaining and improving the Somerset road network, with duties including responding to highway defects, installing signage, and carrying out routine maintenance.

You will work as part of a team, with a full driving licence and the ability to perform under safety-critical conditions. The position offers professional development and flexible working where possible.

Qualifications

Full UK driving licence.
Ability to work under pressure in a safety-critical environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Team player who can work with minimal supervision and take initiative.

Responsibilities

Respond to defects and emergencies on the highway, providing updates via tablet devices.
Install traffic management signage as needed.
Carry out minor improvement works and routine maintenance to enhance the road network.
Operate various plant and equipment safely and effectively.
Use tablet devices to accurately record works and maintain clear communication with the team and clients.
Support winter maintenance activities and severe weather operations when required.
