Job summary

Connex Education is recruiting Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Sheffield and surrounding areas. This role suits confident communicators who want to build school-based experience with guidance from Connex Education.

The position offers flexible day-to-day and longer-term work with an October 2026 start. You will deliver pre‑prepared work, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils focus across subjects while following safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people in education, coaching, mentoring, youth work or a similar setting.
• Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage and lead groups of students in a classroom.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead lessons using materials prepared by teaching staff.
• Encourage engagement with learning and complete activities.
• Maintain classroom behaviour consistently.
• Support students to stay focused and meet lesson objectives.
• Adapt to different school environments and routines.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies.
