Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking a Building Surveyor to join its Southampton region team on a flexible, hybrid/remote basis. The role covers Defence, Blue Light, Education and Housing projects with values from £10k to £3m.

You will undertake building surveys, prepare schedules, reports and drawings, manage regional schemes from inception to completion, and mentor junior colleagues while ensuring quality, health & safety and statutory compliance.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying or an RICS-accredited degree.
• Solid practical experience in a building surveying environment.
• Strong knowledge of building pathology, inspections and defect diagnosis.
• Experience producing technical reports, feasibility studies, asset reviews and drawings.
• Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and statutory compliance.
• Strong communication and client management skills.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of project profitability.
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
• Proactive attitude towards continued professional development.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking building surveys, inspections and condition assessments.
• Preparing schedules, specifications, reports, drawings and other technical documentation.
• Providing professional advice across a varied project portfolio.
• Managing regional schemes from inception through to completion.
• Working with and administering JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Supporting senior colleagues with project and team management activities.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Providing guidance, mentoring and support to more junior members of the Building Surveying team.
• Ensuring projects are delivered with appropriate consideration for quality, health & safety, environmental and statutory compliance requirements.
• Contributing to the continued growth and development of the wider Building Surveying team.
