Job summary

Kids is seeking a Sessional Short Breaks Worker to provide 1:1 support to disabled children and young people. Roles are flexible and shaped around each child’s interests, with sessions conducted at home or in the community.

You will help children engage in meaningful activities, build confidence, independence and life skills, and work to goals in individual support plans. Evening and weekend availability encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience caring for disabled children desirable but not essential.
• Understanding of needs of disabled children and young people.
• Commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 short breaks for disabled children and young people.
• Support access to activities based on individual interests (parks, museums, swimming, etc.).
• Promote independence, inclusion, and positive outcomes.
• Offer practical and emotional support in a person-centred way.
• Work toward goals in each child’s individual support plan.
