Fleet Supply Chain and Warranty Engineer – RS – London/Goole

Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Siemens Mobility. We are on a quest to solve the most complex mobility challenges with groundbreaking technology and creative solutions. As part of our diverse and driven team, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of transportation. Imagine contributing to innovations that touch millions of lives – ready to make that a reality?

Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock designs and manufactures innovative, sustainable trains for rail networks across the UK and beyond. From engineering to production and testing, the team delivers high-quality vehicles that improve reliability, performance and passenger experience.

We are recruiting for a Fleet Supply Chain and Warranty Engineer to join us at Siemens Mobility – Rolling Stock. Working from either our London or Goole sites, you will help to support the component warranty management process by attending and representing Siemens at engineering investigations with suppliers to help enforce the warranty claim processes through providing technical/engineering statements.

You will also work with suppliers to understand the causes of failures, define and implement preventative measures and grow component reliability.

This role is classified as safety critical and is subject to a pre-employment medical assessment, which must be successfully completed prior to start.

You’ll make a difference by…

  • Leading technical investigations and joint supplier reviews to identify root causes of failures, support warranty claims, and improve fleet reliability.
  • Managing supplier performance and accountability, ensuring quality concerns, corrective actions, and deliverables are addressed effectively to reduce failures and costs.
  • Driving warranty management activities, including dispute resolution, cost tracking, trend analysis, reporting, and the implementation of preventative actions.
  • Collaborating with engineering teams, customers, and suppliers to resolve technical issues, share best practice, standardise approaches, and deliver continuous improvement across the fleet.
  • Supporting fleet engineering change and obsolescence management, including the development of engineering change documentation, risk assessments, and solutions to component obsolescence challenges.
  • Commissioning and managing third-party engineering support, defining scopes of work, evaluating proposals, negotiating agreements, and contributing to repair localisation and cost-saving initiatives.

Your role profile may vary from time to time in accordance with business needs. Your annual objective setting with your line manager will outline any additional responsibilities required to meet business or individual development needs for the forthcoming financial year.

What you’ll need to succeed…

  • A qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (HNC/HND, BTEC or equivalent) or demonstrable experience within a railway or rolling stock environment.
  • Strong knowledge of railway systems, maintenance practices and procedures, with the ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience in fault finding, root cause analysis and problem solving to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • The ability to work independently and manage priorities, setting clear objectives and delivering against project and business goals.
  • Experience building effective relationships with customers and suppliers, combined with excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication and IT skills, with the ability to produce clear written documentation, communicate technical information confidently, and utilise relevant software systems.
  • Good negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Good analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical techniques (5Whys, SWOT, Design Thinking etc)
  • The ability to provide leadership within a matrix organisation structure.
