Job summary

Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Transport Services lead to oversee vehicle maintenance, MOT testing, and fleet management for municipal vehicles including HGVs and LGVs. You will ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulatory obligations, while driving efficient service delivery and cost control.

The role requires a CPC in Road Haulage operations and a City & Guilds qualification in motor vehicle technology, with a proven track record in a busy fleet environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a CPC in Road Haulage operations.
• City and Guilds qualification in motor vehicle technology.
• Experience managing a mixed fleet of municipal vehicles including HGVs/LGVs and operator licence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of Transport Services, including vehicle maintenance, fleet management and MOT testing.
• Ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory obligations and health, safety standards.
• Drive efficiency, effective use of resources and cost control while meeting service priorities.
