Job summary

US Foods is seeking a skilled heavy-duty diesel mechanic to ensure a safe and reliable fleet through preventive maintenance and timely repairs. The role involves documenting repair orders, performing road service, and maintaining accurate records using fleet software.

The position requires a minimum of five years of hands-on experience, tools, and a strong ability to follow manuals, work with teams, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• +5 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic.
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting using fleet maintenance software.
• Own personal hand tools.
• Compliance with EPA and OSHA.
• Ability to read and understand manuals.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to adapt to changes.
• Computer and software experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Qualifications: JPRO software experience; Welding ability; Knowledge of electrical schematics; Basic Excel and Word; Leadership experience; Valid Class A CDL and DOT; EPA 608 certification.

Responsibilities

Basic Purpose: To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
• Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list and parts accountability.
• Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
• Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the software system.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
• Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping.
• Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
• Willingness and capacity to assume increasedresponsibility and Certifications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have 5 years of verifiable hands‑on experience as a heavy‑duty commercial diesel mechanic.
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting ability using fleet maintenance software.
• Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Must furnish own personal hand tools.
• Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations pertaining to the shop and fleet.
• Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
• Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
• Computer and software experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• JPRO software experience.

In New York, the expected compensation for this role is $35.90 – $39.90/hour This role is also eligible for overtime compensation.
