Job summary

Babcock International invites applications for the Engineering Design and Manufacture Graduate Apprenticeship – Fleet Engineering at HM Naval Base Clyde. This 4-year programme combines hands-on work with university study to deliver a BEng (Hons) degree in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University.

You’ll rotate through engineering disciplines, supporting the submarine fleet, while developing maintenance, asset management and improvement skills in a highly regulated defence environment.

Qualifications

• Scottish Highers BBCC or equivalent with Maths and a science/tech subject.
• Selected Engineering Foundation Apprenticeships (counts as one Higher) with SQA Highers.
• SCQF Level 6 Modern Apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with SQA Highers.
• Must be resident in Scotland and able to commute to HM Naval Base Clyde.
• Roles subject to BPSS and Security Check clearance; UK national restriction may apply.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.
• Gain practical experience across engineering disciplines and asset management.
• Develop knowledge of engineering design, maintenance planning and assurance within a defence environment.

Education

Scottish Highers: BBCC or equivalent, including Maths and a science or technology subject

Selected Engineering Foundation Apprenticeships

Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Residency in Scotland (must be resident)
