Job summary

Bimplus in Manchester is seeking an experienced Flat Roofing Estimator to join the commercial team. You will prepare accurate estimates and tenders for flat roofing projects, review drawings, and produce cost plans.

The ideal candidate has previous estimator experience in roofing or construction, strong knowledge of flat roofing systems, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and proficient Excel usage. A driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Estimator within roofing or construction.
• Strong knowledge of flat roofing systems (felt, single-ply, EPDM, GRP or liquid roofing).
• Experience pricing commercial roofing projects would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Good Microsoft Excel and IT skills.
• Proactive and organised approach to managing multiple tenders.

Responsibilities

• Preparing accurate estimates and competitive tenders for flat roofing projects.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Producing detailed quantity take-offs and cost plans.
• Obtaining competitive quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
• Identifying value engineering opportunities and commercial risks.
• Preparing detailed pricing submissions and tender documentation.
• Liaising with clients, surveyors, architects, and project teams throughout the tender process.
• Supporting project handovers to the operational and commercial teams.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Assisting with continuous improvement of estimating procedures and cost databases.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

About the Company

Our client is a long-established roofing contractor with over 60 years of experience delivering high-quality roofing solutions across Greater Manchester and the North West. Specialising in both commercial and residential roofing, they provide a comprehensive range of services including flat roofing, single-ply systems, felt roofing, EPDM, GRP, slate, tile, leadwork, and new-build roofing projects.

Known for their commitment to quality workmanship, technical expertise, and outstanding customer service, they work alongside developers, principal contractors, public sector organisations, and private clients on projects ranging from repairs and refurbishments to large-scale new-build developments. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Flat Roofing Estimator to join their commercial team.

The Role

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience pricing commercial roofing projects would be highly advantageous
• Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Good Microsoft Excel and IT skills
• A proactive and organised approach to managing multiple tenders
