Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking a Flat Roofing Estimator in Greater Manchester to prepare accurate estimates and tenders for flat roofing projects, reviewing drawings and tender docs, and liaising with clients and suppliers.

You will manage pricing submissions, cost plans, and value engineering opportunities while building strong relationships with subcontractors, driving continuous improvement in estimating procedures, and supporting handovers to operations.

Qualifications

• Experience as an estimator in roofing or construction.
• Strong knowledge of flat roofing systems (felt, single-ply, EPDM, GRP).
• Experience pricing commercial roofing projects.
• Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates and competitive tenders for flat roofing projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Produce detailed quantity take-offs and cost plans.
• Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and commercial risks.
• Prepare detailed pricing submissions and tender documentation.
• Liaise with clients, surveyors, architects, and project teams throughout the tender process.
• Support project handovers to operations and commercial teams.

• Assist with continuous improvement of estimating procedures and cost databases.

Location - Greater Manchester

About the Company

Our client is a long-established roofing contractor with over 60 years of experience delivering high-quality roofing solutions across Greater Manchester and the North West. Specialising in both commercial and residential roofing, they provide a comprehensive range of services including flat roofing, single-ply systems, felt roofing, EPDM, GRP, slate, tile, leadwork, and new-build roofing projects.

Known for their commitment to quality workmanship, technical expertise, and outstanding customer service, they work alongside developers, principal contractors, public sector organisations, and private clients on projects ranging from repairs and refurbishments to large-scale new-build developments. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Flat Roofing Estimator to join their commercial team.

The Role

As Flat Roofing Estimator, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing accurate estimates and competitive tenders for flat roofing projects

• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation

• Producing detailed quantity take-offs and cost plans

• Obtaining competitive quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors

• Identifying value engineering opportunities and commercial risks

• Preparing detailed pricing submissions and tender documentation

• Liaising with clients, surveyors, architects, and project teams throughout the tender process

• Supporting project handovers to the operational and commercial teams

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Flat Roofing Estimator will have:

• Previous experience as an Estimator within the roofing or construction industry

• Strong knowledge of flat roofing systems, including felt, single-ply, EPDM, GRP, or liquid roofing

• Experience pricing commercial roofing projects would be highly advantageous

• Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail

• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

• Good Microsoft Excel and IT skills

• A proactive and organised approach to managing multiple tenders

• Full UK Driving Licence
