Staffordshire Police is seeking a Fixed Term Purchasing Officer to join the Commercial Services team at Staffordshire Police Headquarters. You will manage purchasing activities, ensuring policy compliance and timely use of purchase orders.

You will train colleagues in the system, support the Purchase to Pay cycle, and work with Accounts Payable to smooth payments. Salary ranges from £28,071 to £32,613 for a 37-hour week on a temporary contract.

About the Opportunity

Commercial Services is an integral part of the Enabling Services Directorate at Staffordshire Police, and their purpose is to ensure our operational colleagues are supported with the correct tools to be able to deliver their critical jobs. The Commercial Services department consists of a team of staff working across Procurement, Purchasing, Insurance and Sustainability.

There is currently an exciting new role within our Commercial Services Team, as a Purchasing Officer.

This is a fantastic opportunity where you will work within a Purchasing Team who are responsible for delivery of purchasing to Staffordshire Police and the Staffordshire Commissioner's Office. Alongside your purchasing colleagues, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance is delivered with all purchasing activity. You will be regarded as a trusted commercial expert offering your expertise in purchasing. You'll work closely with colleagues at all levels and ensure that all purchases are in line with policy, using PO's and in a timely manner. You will help support colleagues who are trying to purchase supplies or goods and will train colleagues in using the system. Innovative ways to support purchasing process will be welcomed along with knowledge of core finance systems to record all purchasing detail within.

Purchasing is a key part of the Purchase to Pay process and your knowledge and experience will help support colleagues whose focus is operational across the policing world. You will also liaise and support colleagues within Accounts Payable to ensure purchasing actions help the payment processes within the force.

In return, you will work with a supportive and energetic team who will offer shared knowledge and peer support, demonstrating fantastic teamwork! You will report to one of our Senior Purchasing Officer, who will support and guide you to ensure you are at your most able to deliver the full role. The team approach is one of working together in a flexible and agile way to deliver results. With our overall objective being to provide commercial excellence that offers value for money and successfully meet the needs of the organisations.
