Job details

Salary £45,765 to £49,716 per annum (pro rata if part time)

Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your procurement and commercial career while making a real difference? Do you enjoy building relationships, solving problems and delivering great outcomes for customers and stakeholders? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Commercial and Procurement Practitioner to join our growing Procurement Team. Whether you're already working in procurement, contracts or commercial management, or you're looking to build on transferable commercial experience, this role offers the chance to broaden your skills, gain valuable experience and further your professional development in a supportive and collaborative environment.

As a Commercial Practitioner, you'll play an important role in helping us deliver a wide range of procurement and commercial projects. You'll lead on tendering activities across a diverse portfolio of contracts, applying your commercial insight and attention to detail to help secure value-for-money solutions that support the Force's priorities.

No two days are the same. You'll work with colleagues from across the organisation, developing strong relationships and providing practical procurement and contracting advice. We pride ourselves on being an approachable and trusted service that enables teams to achieve their objectives while ensuring compliance with procurement legislation and good governance.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but ambitious team where you'll have the chance to make a visible impact and develop your career. We are committed to supporting continuous learning and professional growth, providing opportunities to:

  • Gain experience across a broad range of procurement and commercial activities.
  • Develop your knowledge of public sector procurement and contracting.
  • Work alongside experienced commercial professionals.
  • Build your expertise through on-the-job learning and formal development opportunities.
  • Progress towards professional qualifications, such as MCIPS, where appropriate.

About you

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Curious, proactive and keen to learn.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Able to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Organised, detail-oriented and confident producing high-quality documentation.
  • Passionate about delivering excellent commercial outcomes and customer service.

Experience of public sector procurement and knowledge of procurement legislation would be advantageous, as would holding or working towards a relevant qualification such as MCIPS. However, we recognise that talent comes from a variety of backgrounds and welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate relevant commercial experience and transferable skills.

Working arrangements

The role is available on a full-time basis of 37 hours per week. We are also committed to supporting flexible working and will consider part-time applications of at least 30 hours per week for the right candidate.

If you're looking for a role where you can develop professionally, contribute to meaningful work and be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, learning and commercial excellence, we'd be delighted to receive your application.

Some benefits of working for Nottinghamshire Police include but are not limited to:
