Job summary

GKN Aerospace in the United Kingdom is seeking qualified fitters to join as multi-skilled, flexible workers to support assembly and manufacturing of wing components for civil and military aircraft. You will use a range of hand and machine tools, perform drilling, riveting, deburring and precision work to exacting standards.

You will work to SOPs, ensure calibration validity, and use the SAP system to track progress while adhering to GKNAF quality procedures and health and safety requirements;

Qualifications

• Must have recognised indentured apprenticeship (level 3)
• Export Control understanding and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work to standard operating procedures

Responsibilities

• Ensure parts are produced on a right first time basis
• Ensure that calibrated equipment used is within date
• Responsible for timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
• Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
• Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
• Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
• To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)

GKN Aerospace are searching qualified fitters to express an interest in working with GKN to operate as multi-skilled, flexible workers to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency within our areas. We are anticipating further uptake in the coming months and will be in touch to any successful applicants. Successful applicants will have a wideknowledge of hand and machine tools used in the aircraft industry including: Precussion riveting Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels with Vanmar tools Setting structures in build jigs Deburring of structures Fettling using approved setting tools Treatment touch-up in localised areas on aluminium Use of CNC pillar drills (DONAU) Part Marking + Identifying

Profile description:
