Job summary

GKN Aerospace at Filton is seeking skilled fitters to operate as multi-skilled, flexible workers in a high-precision aircraft manufacturing environment. You will use hand and machine tools and participate in quality-driven processes to ensure efficient production and safe operations.

Ideal candidates will hold an indentured apprenticeship (level 3) and have experience with aerospace tooling, lean principles, and regulatory requirements. Competitive package with pension and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Must have a recognised indentured apprenticeship (level 3).
• Export control understanding and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Desirable: previous manufacturing experience in aircraft production.

Responsibilities

• Ensure parts are produced on a right first time basis.
• Ensure calibrated equipment is within date.
• Clear work phases in SAP in a timely manner.
• Highlight any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader.
• Adhere to GKNAF Quality Procedures.

GKN Aerospace are searching qualified fitters to express an interest in working with GKN to operate as multi-skilled, flexible workers to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency within our areas. We are anticipating further uptake in the coming months and will be in touch to any successful applicants. Successful applicants will have a wideknowledge of hand and machine tools used in the aircraft industry including: Precussion riveting Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels with Vanmar tools Setting structures in build jigs Deburring of structures Fettling using approved setting tools Treatment touch-up in localised areas on aluminium Use of CNC pillar drills (DONAU) Part Marking + Identifying

Profile description: How You'll Contribute

• Ensure parts are produced on a right first time basis
• Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
• Responsible for timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
• Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
• Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
• Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
• To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
