Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented First Line Manager to join our team at the Bedford site. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth daily operations in a fast-paced, customer-focused pharmaceutical warehouse environment. You will be responsible for leading a team, maintaining operational excellence, and upholding regulatory compliance standards, while delivering high-quality service to multiple clients. Your working hours will be 14:00-22:00, with a salary of £30,950, including the afternoon shift allowance.

Purpose of the Role:

The First Line Manager will oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient handling, storage, and distribution of goods in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. You will lead a team of operatives, coordinate with departments such as Commercial, Customer Services, Quality Assurance, Inventory, and Transport, and support continuous process and service improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead daily warehouse operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely execution.
• Supervise and develop a team, ensuring resource planning aligns with demand.
• Maintain high standards of compliance with GDP and health & safety regulations.
• Act as the main contact for customer accounts, ensuring service excellence and swift issue resolution.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure operational alignment.
• Oversee recruitment, training, performance reviews, and shift planning.
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Report performance metrics and highlight risks and opportunities to senior management.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven experience in supervisory or managerial roles within logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations.
• Strong understanding of industry compliance standards such as GDP and relevant regulations.
• Leadership ability and experience managing operational teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience managing operations in a multi-client warehouse environment.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Relevant professional qualifications in logistics or supply chain management.
