Closing Date: Friday, 18 September 2026

Share Your Skills. Inspire Others. Make a Difference.

We’re looking for a First Aid Instructor to join our Commercial Services team, delivering a range of high-quality training and nationally recognised qualifications to local businesses and individuals.

From First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid to Mental Health First Aid and other workplace safety qualifications, you’ll play an important role in helping people gain the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to respond when it matters most.

At Dumfries & Galloway College, we’re committed to being one step ahead - responding to the needs of employers, communities and individuals by providing practical, accessible and industry-relevant training.
If you’re passionate about First Aid, enjoy working with people and want to share your knowledge in a supportive and forward-thinking environment, we’d love to hear from you.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced and professional First Aid Instructor who is passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping others develop the skills and confidence to respond effectively in an emergency.

You’ll have a strong First Aid background and hold relevant, industry-approved qualifications that enable you to deliver General First Aid and Mental Health First Aid training. You’ll have practical experience as a first aider and mental health first aider, together with the confidence and credibility to deliver engaging, high-quality training to a wide range of learners.

You’ll be someone who can bring First Aid training to life - making sessions practical, engaging and relevant to the people attending. Our learners may be individuals looking to develop their skills or employees attending training on behalf of their organisation, so being able to adapt your approach to different groups and learning styles is important.

As part of our Commercial Services team, you’ll represent Dumfries & Galloway College when delivering training both on and off campus. You’ll therefore take pride in providing a professional service, building positive relationships with customers and ensuring every learner receives a high-quality experience.

You’ll also have:
  • Relevant, industry-approved First Aid qualifications, including the ability to deliver Mental Health First Aid.
  • Recent practical experience as a First Aider and Mental Health First Aider.
  • The confidence and communication skills to deliver engaging and professional training to a range of audiences.
  • The ability to adapt your delivery style to suit different learners, groups and workplace environments.
  • Good IT skills and the confidence to use digital resources and technology as part of your training delivery.
  • A full driving licence, as training may be delivered at customer premises and locations across the region.
  • A strong focus on customer service, professionalism and representing the College positively.
  • The ability to work independently, manage your time effectively and get things done.
  • A flexible and creative approach, with the ability to respond to customer needs and changing demands.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is professional, enthusiastic and creative, with a genuine interest in working as part of a team and contributing to the continued growth of our commercial training provision.

You’ll understand that commercial course delivery is about more than simply delivering a course. It’s about understanding what customers need, providing an excellent learner experience, maintaining professional standards and looking for opportunities to develop and grow what
we offer.

If you’re someone who takes pride in what you do, enjoys working with people and knows how to make things happen, we’d like to hear from you.
