Job summary

Search Consultancy is recruiting a Passive Fire Protection Operative / Fire Stopper for a live commercial project in Middlesbrough. You will install batt and mastic systems, seal penetrations to exact specifications, and ensure compliance with FIRAS/BM TRADA guidelines.

Required: CSCS card, proven commercial fire-stopping experience, and right to work in the UK. An immediate start is available with CIS payments and weekly payroll.

Qualifications

• Valid CSCS Card (Fire Stopper / NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection preferred).
• Proven experience in commercial batt and mastic fire-stopping applications.
• Full personal hand tools (mastic guns, battery tools, knives, measuring equipment) and standard PPE.

Responsibilities

• Batt & Mastic Installation: Cutting, fitting, and sealing coated mineral wool batt systems around openings and penetrations.
• Fire Sealing: Apply intumescent mastic, silicone sealants, and fire-rated compounds to maintain acoustic and fire integrity.
• Compliance & Recording: Ensure seals adhere to FIRAS/BM TRADA guidelines and site safety standards.
• Site Preparation: Clean and prepare substrates, openings, and services before applying seals.

Search Consultancy is looking for a skilled, experienced Passive Fire Protection Operative / Fire Stopper for an active commercial project in Middlesbrough. We are partnering with an established main contractor requiring an operative with strong expertise in batt and mastic systems to carry out critical penetration sealing across the site.

If you have a proven track record in passive fire stopping, a valid CSCS card, and take pride in fully compliant installation, we have an immediate start available now.

The Role

• Batt & Mastic Installation: Cutting, fitting, and sealing coated mineral wool batt systems around structural openings, pipework, and duct penetrations.
• Fire Sealing: Applying intumescent mastic, silicone sealants, and fire-rated compounds to ensure full acoustic and fire integrity to precise manufacturer specifications.
• Compliance & Recording: Ensuring all installed penetration seals strictly adhere to FIRAS/BM TRADA guidelines and site safety standards.
• Site Preparation: Cleaning and preparing substrates, openings, and services prior to applying fire-stopping seals.

Requirements

• CSCS Card: Valid CSCS Card (Fire Stopper / NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection preferred).
• Experience: Proven experience in commercial batt and mastic fire-stopping applications.
• Tools & Kit: Full personal hand tools (mastic guns, battery tools, knives, measuring equipment) and standard 5-point PPE.
• Reliability: Keen eye for detail, reliable attendance, and commitment to compliant workmanship.
• Right to Work: Must have a valid right to work in the UK.
