Job summary

Unify in Peterborough is seeking a Fire and Security Technician to maintain and repair integrated fire and security systems across major commercial sites. This permanent role offers 42.5 hours per week with a basic salary of £40,000 inclusive of standby pay, plus opportunities to progress within the company.

You will perform routine maintenance, respond to service requests, and work with a collaborative team to ensure SLAs are met and systems stay compliant nationwide.

Qualifications

• GCSE standard education (or equivalent).
• Recognized Electrical Competency Qualification (NVQ or City & Guilds).
• IP and analogue CCTV systems knowledge.
• Experience with commercial fire alarm systems.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake maintenance and repairs in accordance with SLAs, response times, first-time fix rates, and closures.
• Carry out planned, reactive, and statutory works per contractual obligations and SOPs.
• Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) within agreed timeframes with accurate paperwork.
• Respond to Helpdesk service calls during normal hours and on-call rota.
• Identify non-repairable faults and propose corrective actions to clients and management.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fire & Security Technician. This position is responsible for carrying out routine repairs and planned preventative maintenance of integrated fire and security systems across prominent commercial retail locations.

Key Accountabilities

• Undertake maintenance and repairs in accordance with strict customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) including response times, first-time fix rates, and job closures.
• Ensure all planned, reactive, and statutory works assigned are carried out fully in accordance with contractual obligations and site standard operating procedures.
• Complete all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) works within agreed timeframes and ensure necessary paperwork is completed accurately and to high standards.
• Respond promptly to service call requests from the Helpdesk during normal working hours and while participating in the on-call rota.
• Identify non-repairable faults in equipment and propose appropriate corrective courses of action to clients and management.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• GCSE standard education (or equivalent)
• Recognized Electrical Competency Qualification (NVQ or City & Guilds)
• Working knowledge of IP and analogue CCTV systems
• Experience with commercial fire alarm systems
• Full, clean UK driving licence

Desirable Qualifications & Personal Attributes

• IPAF licence holder (full training can be provided if required)
• Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to distinguish colours to the standard required for electrical and electronic maintenance and repair
