Norfolk County Council's Fire and Rescue team is committed to the safety of its residents. The Building Safety Regulator is responsible for ensuring the safety of tall buildings. This role’s primary focus is to carry out work for the building safety regulator as part of the regional team assembled by fire services, with employment through Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service.

As a fire safety inspector, you will undertake inspections of buildings in Norfolk according to their risk-based inspection programme and assess fire safety arrangements in tall buildings as part of applications for building safety certificates through the building safety regulator.

This may involve site visits and liaising with responsible and accountable persons.

The successful candidate will also provide guidance regarding tall buildings for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service enforcement and remediation actions, as well as promote fire safety awareness within the business community. Enforcement of fire safety regulations as outlined in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order may be required.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to help shape community safety in tall buildings. You will be making a difference in saving lives.

The role offers flexible hybrid working, with office access when needed. Working regionally, you will connect with other regional services, which can be discussed during the interview.

The minimum essential qualification for this role is a Level 4 diploma in fire safety or equivalent.

If suitable applicants with this qualification are limited, we will consider candidates meeting all essential knowledge and experience criteria.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Robert Curtis, Group Manager – Protection Lead, at Robert.curtis@norfolk.gov.uk.
