Fire Safety Advisor – Hospital Environment

Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking an experienced Fire Safety Advisor to deliver fire safety support across the NHS Ayrshire & Arran estates, primarily based at University Hospital Crosshouse.

You will lead audits, risk assessments and training to ensure premises are safe for staff, patients and visitors, while developing a culture of fire safety awareness at all levels of the organisation.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Fire Safety or knowledge and experience gained through prior Fire & Rescue Service employment.
• Proven experience in practical application of Fire Safety.
• Competent to undertake audits and complete Fire Risk Assessments.
• Ability to identify Fire Safety failures of management, building structures or installations and remedial action to rectify.
• Proven experience in conducting Fire Safety Training.
• Knowledge of Fire Safety Legislation, Scottish Health Technical Memorandums (SHTM’s) and Approved Codes of Practice (ACoPs).
• Experience within a hospital environment would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive Fire Safety service ensuring all Health Board premises are environmentally safe from the risk of fire for all staff, patients and visitors.
• Develop a culture of Fire Safety Awareness within NHS Ayrshire & Arran at all levels.
