Job Overview

The role of the Fire Safety Adviser is to provide competent fire safety advice, in line with current legislation and guidance, to ensure the Trust meets its legislative requirements, maintains compliance, and provides a safe environment free from fire hazards for staff, patients, and visitors.

Main Duties
  1. Uphold the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, as amended.
  2. Maintain statutory requirements dictated by HTM Firecode.
  3. Provide specialist advice on all aspects of Fire Safety, legal and technical requirements to the Trust and stakeholders.
  4. Support and deliver fire safety training to staff.
  5. Investigate fire incidents and compile reports.
  6. Carry out fire risk assessments and recommend improvements.
  7. Coordinate with external agencies such as Fire and Rescue Services and Building Control.
  8. Advise senior management and technical staff on fire legislation compliance.
  9. Design and deliver fire safety training tailored to departmental needs.
  10. Maintain records of training, incidents, and inspections.
  11. Respond to fire alarms and emergency situations.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Masters degree or equivalent in fire safety or related discipline.
  • Fire risk assessor training and competence.
  • Relevant fire safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, HTM qualifications).
  • Experience as a fire advisor or manager within a large or complex organization.
  • Experience in developing policies, delivering training, and working with multidisciplinary teams.
