Job summary

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a Fire Safety Adviser in Reading. The role includes auditing and advising on fire safety measures in premises, contributing to environmental protection and safe business growth, and progressing along a development pathway toward Fire Safety Inspector.

Responsibilities include enforcing fire safety legislation, providing guidance, and supporting operational crews with protection activities.

Qualifications

• A good standard of general education – Level 2 in English and Maths.
• Awareness of the elements of the role.
• Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation with basic knowledge of risk assessment.
• Be self-motivated and prioritise work to achieve targets within tight deadlines and with minimal supervision.
• Able to use IT systems effectively in the collation, analysis and presentation of information.

Responsibilities

• Improve public and business safety and reduce risk through education and enforcement of fire safety legislation.
• Protect people, property and the environment by advising on risk management.
• Promote and support business growth by guiding compliance with the Fire Safety Order 2005.
• Process and issue documents and communications for non-uniformed fire safety inspecting officers.
• Provide fire safety and prevention advice and guidance.
• Support Operational crews with Protection activities, including Fire Safety Checks.
