Job summary

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting for a Fire Safety Adviser, with a structured development pathway to become a Fire Safety Inspector. The role focuses on enforcing fire safety legislation, auditing premises, and advising on risk management to protect people and property.

You will gather and present data to inform risk assessments, prioritize work, and collaborate with teams to deliver Fire Safety activities that support the public and local businesses.

Qualifications

• Good standard of general education – Level 2 in English and Maths.
• Awareness of health & safety legislation with basic risk assessment knowledge.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Improve public and business safety and reduce risk through targeted education and enforcement of fire safety legislation.
• Protect people, property and the environment by advising on risk management.
• Promote and support business growth by guiding compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
• Receive, process, allocate, complete and issue documents and communications for non-uniformed fire safety inspecting activities.
• Provide fire safety and prevention advice and guidance.
• Support Operational crews with Protection activities, including Fire Safety Checks.
