Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service in Reading seeks a Fire Safety Adviser to progress through a structured development pathway toward becoming a Fire Safety Inspector. The role involves auditing and advising on fire safety measures, educating businesses and the public, and supporting protection activities across Berkshire.

Qualifications

• Level 2 English and Maths is required.
• Awareness of Health & Safety legislation and risk assessment basics.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation and regulations.
• Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
• Be self-motivated and able to prioritise work to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Improve public and business safety through targeted education and enforcement of fire safety legislation.
• Advise on management of risks associated with actual or potential fire.
• Provide guidance to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
• Process, allocate and issue documents and communications for non-uniformed fire safety inspectors.
• Support protection activities for operational crews and fire safety inspections.
