Job summary

Surety Fire Solutions Limited is seeking a Fire Risk Assessor to join our UK-wide practice. The role blends home-based work with on-site visits and report writing, supporting diverse premises from care facilities to other sectors.

You will conduct fire risk assessments, write concise reports, and advise on compliant improvements, with training provided as needed. Travel across the UK is required, and the position offers hybrid working and ongoing development.

Job description

Salary: £45,000–£55,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus car allowance

Location: North West England / home-based, with UK-wide travel

Hours: Full-time; typically 3 days on site and 2 days reporting and consultancy work

Working arrangement: Hybrid, combining home-based work, site visits and team collaboration

We have a strong presence in the care sector, alongside a varied portfolio of residential, industrial and hospitality premises. We are seeking a capable Fire Risk Assessor to join our experienced team as demand for our services grows.

The role

You will carry out fire risk assessments and produce clear, practical reports that help clients understand and manage their fire risks. The role also includes compartmentation and fire door surveys, with training provided where required. Your week will typically combine three days of site visits with two days of report writing and office-based work.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake fire risk assessments across a range of premises, particularly care facilities.
• Carry out compartmentation and fire door surveys within your competence and training.
• Prepare accurate reports with clear findings and proportionate, prioritised recommendations.
• Explain fire safety requirements and advise clients on practical improvements.
• Work with the consultancy team to maintain consistent standards and high‑quality service.

About you

• A minimum Level 3 qualification in fire risk assessment, or equivalent.
• Sound knowledge of fire safety legislation and risk assessment methods, applied in practice.
• Strong report‑writing and communication skills, with confidence advising clients.
• The ability to organise your workload and work independently, recognising the limits of your competence.
• Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
• Practical experience of conducting fire risk assessments and producing reports is strongly preferred.
• Professional membership or registration with a recognised fire safety body is desirable
